Description:

Rock Creek is seeking a seasoned instructor to give high-quality lessons in a busy teaching barn. We offer hunter, balance seat, and dressage instruction. This is a recreational barn that puts a strong emphasis on accessibility, friendliness, safety, and outstanding customer service. Instructors are expected to follow our established curriculum, arrive and depart in a timely manner, and interact respectfully with fellow staff members. Prior teaching experience is required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Operations
•Instruct both riding and ground lessons.
•Instruct both private and group lessons.
•Insure that all students have appropriate equipment.
•Ensure barn safety at all times.
•Report all serious accidents through established protocols.
•Fulfill any and all directives deemed necessary by RCPHC management team regarding the programs, barn, facilities and horse care., and all other aspects of the Horse Center’s operations
•Maintain general cleanliness and presentability of the barn and tack rooms.

Barn Operations
•Lead trail rides and pony rides when needed which includes assisting in tacking up and cooling down of all trail horses and ponies, as well as putting away equipment.
•Participate in any and all greening efforts put forth by Rock Creek Park Horse Center.

Customer Service
•Provide the best possible customer service to RCPHC visitors and clients.
•Assist park visitors during “walk-throughs” (groups of approximately 5 or more) to ensure safety and knowledge of horses.
